"We live in a beautiful, amazing multi-cultural country and diversity is strength. So by having these discussions, I felt invigorated!"

James Antonious is an Assistant Head who has used Lyfta for years. We recorded this presentation in July 2024 for school leaders.

In the presentation, I ask James what he would say to teachers who might be nervous about initiating these important conversations?

"It's about: I don't know what the children are going to respond. But as long as you do it in a respectful, tolerant way, it's going to be good. Starting off with Lyfta for 20 minutes a week can create the culture, and then you can grow it."

"It's really empowering to have that structure; to have that storyworld to explore, the teacher notes and provocations to create that discussion. And you can shape it! Take a plunge, dive in and you'll realise it is a really exciting thing to do.

"It allowed us to have that really deep conversation about our bias."

Dear school leader, I'm Leah 👋

I'd love to say hello ahead of this important conference.

Around a decade ago I started solving problems that make my heart sing ❤️

I eagerly sought to empower teachers by supporting a huge range of projects on crucial topics: racial justice, the UK care system, gang culture, school behaviour, struggle, stress, eating disorders, SEND, brain damage, inclusion, values based leadership and education system data trends.

Over the years a pattern repeated.

We all wish to belong. Me too.

So, how?

📌 How do we value the communities children already have in their lives?

📌 How do we learn about differences while cultivating connection over fear?

In all my searching, the best answer that I've found so far is Lyfta
